S-C. HELGE (TONY) SMEBY, Born: June 9, 1877, in Gj¢vik, Norway, Died: June 11, 1941, Mp1s., MN. Bap: Sep. 2, 1877, Conf: Apr. 24, 1892. (NOTE: Emigrated to USA May 1893 and was a baker. He was admitted as a naturalized citizen of the U.S. in Freeborn County, MN Dec. 6,1904.) Married: Minnie Petersen Lived on a farm in Alden, MN after arrival in the US. for a short while worked as a carpenter, then a job with his cousin. Hanson in a bakery, where he learned the business. Owned a bakery in Alden. Buffalo Lake, and Mpls., MN, Buried: Lakewood Cemetery, Mp1s., MN Helge, Minnie and their daughter Bernice are buried next to one another. Minnie (Mine) Christine Petersen Born: June 7, 1882, Carlston, MN Died: May 1, 1970, Mp1s., MN. Her Parents: Charles and Caterina Petersen They emigrated 1848 and 1850 from Kobelov Lolland Falster Islands, Denmark. The very day Catherine arrived she and Charles married. They are buried in Alden, MN.

1. LYNNE CHARLES SMEBY SR, Born: Sep. 1, 1903. in Alden MN, Died: Feb. 28, 1962. Bethesda, MD, buried in Washington, DC. Lynne received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the U of MN. His profession was radio and TV design engineer. He held patents on antennas and authored technical books on radio engineering. At one time he owned a radio station. He grew up in Mp1s., Married Evelyn True. Born: Sept. 27,1917. Died: Mar. 17, 1984. Sherman Oaks, CA. Evelyn held a B.A. degree from George Washington Univ. Six years after Lynne died Evelyn remarried and moved to Los Angeles, CA. Evelyn retired from IBM and died in 1984, her ashes spread over the Pacific Ocean.

a. LYNNE CHARLES SMEBY JR., Born: July 24, 1944, Wash., DC. Married(Dec. 15, 1985) Lorraine Castellino, Born: Apr. 23, 1949. Lynne (Chuck) holds a B.S. from U. of Maryland in Fire Protection Engineering and M.P.P, in Public Policy Administration from U. of Maryland 1987. He has been an adjunct professor at the U. of Florida from 1998 to retirement in 2010. Previously, he was a Senior Fire Service Specialist at the National Fire Protection Association in Quincy, MA. Before joining NFPA he had a twenty year career with the Prince George County (MD) Fire Dept. retiring in 1992 as a Battalion Chief. He is the author of a textbook “Fire and Emergency Services Administration”. They live at 3070 Twisted Oak Way, The Villages, Florida.

b. JOHN STARR SMEBY, Born: July 11, 1946 in Washington, D.C. Married (March 17, 2001) Beverly L. Smeby, Born: November 28, 1943 Washington, D.C. John holds a B.S. from U. of Maryland 1971, and a M.S.A. from George Washington University 1979. John worked in computer/systems technology and was a Program Manager developing intelligence systems for the U.S. Government. John was professionally certified as a Program Management Professional (PMP) in 1984. John has been retired since 2007. He enjoys outdoor activities in The Villages, traveling, coin and stamp collecting, and photography. They live in The Villages, Florida.
